Hey there friends and family. I’ve been away for a while, but it’s spring in the garden so it’s time for some photographic evidence that I’ve actually been doing something. After two of the hottest, driest summers on record, the head farmer at 13003 Springvale had just about given up gardening for good. We didn’t plant a fall garden, nor did we plant any greens for the winter, so when Cynthia invited many of our closest friends and neighbors to celebrate my 41st birthday in late February, I was completely mortified by the 4-foot-high dandelion jungle my garden had become.
A week or two later, I put my despair behind me, picked up my shovel, cranked up the tiller and got to work. Now that May is here, I’m so glad I put in the effort. 13003 Springvale has never bloomed so brilliantly.
Well, there you have it. We’re already eating squash and radishes, the herbs are tasting great, and we’ll have beans, peppers, tomatoes, and cucumbers in a matter of weeks. As for me and this bee (below), you can find us in the garden.
